ArmInfo. A motion to place Gohar Ghumashyan under house arrest will be submitted to the court. Marina Ohanjanyan, press secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia, announced this on her Facebook page.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Committee issued a statement announcing that evidence was obtained during investigative operations, indicating that, after the RA Presidential Decree setting the date for regular elections to the National Assembly on February 7, 2026, a member of the Strong Armenia party, in violation of the legal prohibition on charitable activities, in March 2026,with the assistance of another individual, transferred funds disguised as charity to national election participants residing in different regions of Armenia, along with promises of services on preferential terms. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code, and two individuals have been publicly charged and detained.
In light of this situation, representatives of the Strong Armenia party are holding a small symbolic rally outside the Anti-Corruption Committee building in support of the detained Gohar Ghumashyan. Baby bottles of milk have been placed outside the Committee building. This is due to the fact that Gohar Ghumashyan is a nursing mother.
The press secretary of the Strong Armenia party reiterated that they view the detention of female party members as yet another manifestation of the current authorities' weakness and an attempt to exert pressure. She also recalled that tomorrow at 12:00 PM, the Anti-Corruption Court will hold a hearing on the case of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan.
