ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia has extended the house arrest of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan for three months. The relevant decision was made during a hearing on April 17. By another decision, the court allowed Karapetyan to give interviews. The next hearing in the party leader's case will be held on April 30 at 2:00 PM.
Speaking to journalists following the announcement, Karapetyan expressed little surprise at the outcome. He alleged that the current Armenian administration is determined to prevent his personal participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections. "What we expected is exactly what happened," Karapetyan noted. "Under the current government, no other decision was possible. They do not want me personally involved in the election campaign. However, we assess our chances (of victory) at exactly 100%."
It should be noted that Samvel Karapetyan's case was overseen by Judge Vahe Dolmazyan, a figure well- known in Armenia for presiding over several prominent and politically sensitive trials.
