ArmInfo. The first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, expressed condolences over the death of renowned French physician of Armenian descent Bernard Andreasian. "The world-renowned French physician of Armenian descent, Bernard Andreasian, has passed away. Vazgen Manukyan expressed his condolences, particularly noting his enormous work in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as his hundreds of complex surgeries.
I consider it my duty to add that Mr. Andreasian also saved my life when, in 1989, after my release from prison, I went to Paris for treatment under the auspices of the French Ministry of Health and President Mitterrand himself.
With deep gratitude, I express my condolences to the family of the late Bernard Andreasian, as well as to his colleagues and close friends," Ter-Petrosyan wrote on his Facebook page.
Andreasyan was a world-renowned surgeon and made a huge contribution to the development of medicine in Armenia and Artsakh, where he performed hundreds of complex operations. Throughout his career, he actively supported his Armenian colleagues and the country's healthcare system, for which he was deeply respected both in the professional community and among the political leadership.
