Bright Armenia party: Armenian authorities using soft power to  rewrite history

ArmInfo.Inside Armenia,   there is a Turkish-Azerbaijani soft power  at work, represented by the Armenian authorities, which is trying to make  people doubt the fact of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, as stated by Edmon Marukyan, leader of the Bright Armenia party,  in an interview  with journalists on April 24 at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to the Victims of the Armenian Genocide.

The politician visited Tsitsernakaberd to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

According to him, the Armenian authorities are attempting to revise  the past, memory, and feelings of the Armenian people not through  war, but through soft power. "Meanwhile, the Armenian Genocide is  recognized worldwide; its existence is scientifically proven. And  this issue must always be on our foreign policy agenda, as our  security depends on it," Marukyan stated.

He recalled that what happened 111 years ago had the following  message: "There shouldn't be any Armenians here, so they must be  killed." According to Marukyan, in this sense, the forced  displacement of the Artsakh population and the demands for a road  through Syunik are a continuation of this same policy.

Marukyan also responded to statements made by Armenian Prime Minister  Nikol Pashinyan, who said that "it is necessary to stop seeking a  homeland outside the internationally recognized 29,743 square  kilometers of the state, as otherwise the country risks losing its  statehood." He asserted that the recognition  of Armenian Genocide  has nothing to do with territorial claims. "These two issues cannot  be linked. The Armenian Genocide is a matter of our history, a tragic  legacy that forces us to be careful in our relations with our  neighbors. The rhetoric of oblivion in Armenia cannot be justified in  any way," the party leader concluded.
