Prosecutor General: No murder cases recorded in  Armenian Armed  Forces in 2025

ArmInfo.No cases of murder were recorded within the Armenian Armed Forces in 2025, as announced by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan at a meeting of the NA committee on April 29, when  presenting a report on the work over  the past year.

According to her, 2,248 cases were recorded in military units in 2025  (2,093 in 2024). Of the registered cases, 1,027, or 45.7%, were  accidents (762 in 2024), 1,221, or 54.3%, were crimes (1,331 in  2024), including 687, or 56.3%, were war crimes (715 in 2024), and  534, or 43.7%, were other crimes (616 in 2024).

In 2025, there were recorded cases of deaths of military personnel in  circumstances related to service, including six conscripts, two  recruits of the National Security Service border troops, and one  police officer.  In total, nine service-related deaths were recorded,  compared to 27 in 2024.

Service-related deaths are distributed as follows: 4 cases of  negligent suicide, 1 case of military official negligence, 1 case of  death caused by failure to perform or improper performance of medical  duties by a healthcare worker, 1 case of lightning strike, and 2  cases of illness. In 2025, the number of service-related deaths among  military personnel decreased by 18, or 66.7% (27 in 2024).

Vardapetyan also reported that the total damage caused to the state  as a result of criminal cases investigated in 2025 amounted to  411,728,063 drams (1,479,117,389 drams in 2024), of which 108,712,388  drams were returned during pre-trial proceedings (51,935,493 drams in  2024). According to the Prosecutor General, in 2025, 280  investigations conducted by the Department for the Protection of  State Interests of the Central Military Prosecutor's Office and the  military prosecutor's offices of the garrisons recorded damage to the  state in the amount of 1 billion 432 million 493,000 drams (in 2024 -  5 billion 677 million 550,000 drams).  "In 2025, damages to the state  in the amount of 938 million 80,000 drams were compensated, of which  924 million 294,000 drams were reimbursed by the Department for the  Protection of State Interests outside of court," the Prosecutor  General stated, adding that 92 million 213,000 drams were reimbursed  in 2025 from damages recorded as a result of investigations  in 2024.

During 2025, military prosecutors initiated 24 cases in the field of  protecting state interests (compared to 19 cases in 2024). The total  amount of confiscation claims in these 24 cases is 4 billion 564  million 117,000 drams. Five cases have been fully satisfied, while  the consideration of 19 is still pending. The total amount subject to  confiscation under the five fully satisfied property claims is 11  million 466,000 drams.
