ArmInfo. The return of 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenia or the return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh and Baku has never been a subject of negotiation with the Azerbaijani side, as stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a briefing on April 30.
According to him, all such talk is cheap political speculation. "We have never discussed and are not discussing such an issue with Azerbaijan. We are also not discussing with Azerbaijan the return of Karabakh Armenians, Baku Armenians, and other Armenians," Pashinyan noted, adding that these two issues have a provocative impact on the current political situation. The Prime Minister labeled these rumors as "cheap political speculation," suggesting that those promoting these narratives are doing so without a clear understanding of the facts or with harmful intent.
It should be noted, however, that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly raised the issue of resettling 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenia. Specifically, in an interview with Russian media, he stated that that number of Azerbaijanis had officially appealed to the Armenian leadership to "create conditions" for their resettlement. Aliyev added that the Azerbaijani side had not received a response from Yerevan on this issue and referred to Armenian territory as the "historical land" of Azerbaijanis.
