
ArmInfo. On May 4, the Belgian Embassy opened in Yerevan. The opening ceremony was attended by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever. Nikol Pashinyan posted footage of the embassy opening ceremony on his Facebook page.
In his speech, Bart de Wever noted that the embassy is opening in one of the cradles of world civilization.
"This embassy is more than just a symbol of the ties between Belgium and Armenia. It is an expression of our commitment to deepening our cooperation in business, innovation, infrastructure, and scientific exchange. Armenia plays a vital role in ensuring stability and as a bulwark of democratic values in the region. In a world full of uncertainty, such partnerships are crucial. And we value this. Belgium firmly supports Armenia and will continue to do so. We will continue to strengthen the friendship between our peoples and countries. You can count on us, Mr. Prime Minister. Let this embassy be not only a symbol of our friendship, but also an enduring promise of the future that we are determined to build together," the Belgian Prime Minister said.
It should be noted that the 8th European Political Community Summit opens today in Yerevan. Nikol Pashinyan is currently greeting the arriving heads of delegations at the Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. Summit participants include European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas is also expected in Yerevan. Guests include Prince Albert II of Monaco, French President Emmanuel Macron, Romanian President Nicusor Dan, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, and Swiss President Guy Parmelin. Prime ministers from several countries are also present at the summit, including Keir Starmer, George Meloni, Pedro Sanchez, Donald Tusk, Robert Fico, and Edi Rama. Other participants include NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and leaders and representatives of dozens of European countries and international organizations.
