ArmInfo. Turkey's Special Representative for Normalization of Relations with Armenia, Serdar K?l?c, has reported on his visit to Yerevan. " We participated in the panel titled "Turning Point in the South Caucasus; Expectations Towards Peace and Cooperation," organized within the framework of the Erivan Forum, together with friends from the EU, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, as well as my counterpart Ruben Rubinyan in the normalization process, and shared our views," the Turkish diplomat wrote on Twitter (X).
It should be noted that during his speech, the Turkish official supported the normalization of Armenian- Turkish relations and generally advocated for regional connectivity. This is despite the fact that Turkey initiated the closure of the Armenian-Turkish border in the early 1990s. Moreover, K?l?c stated that he feels like he is at home in Yerevan, adding that Armenians and Turks have many similarities.
The normalization process between Armenia and Turkey was announced on December 13, 2021, by then- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. He emphasized that Ankara would coordinate with Azerbaijan on steps to normalize relations with Armenia. The parties appointed special representatives of Turkey and Armenia for the normalization process – Serdar K?l?c and Ruben Rubinyan – who have already held several rounds of negotiations, but have not yet achieved any breakthroughs, other than the launch of air cargo and passenger services.
