ArmInfo. The current Armenian authorities stoop to using even the state-funded Public Television to spread lies, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, a board member of the Strong Armenia party, on his Facebook page.
To support his claim, the politician presented a screenshot of a broadcast graphic featuring a photograph that asserted Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, as the unified opposition's candidate for Prime Minister. "Our party has officially stated that we will not cast our vote for anyone other than Samvel Karapetyan. Samvel Karapetyan and all other forces have stated that they will give their votes to the leading opposition force. Under no circumstances will we vote for anyone but Samvel Karapetyan, yet this lie is being officially broadcast on Public TV," Karapetyan stated.
The politician also pointed out another case of misinformation involving a photo of Samvel Karapetyan. "There is a page called 'Compassionate Armenia' that has no connection to us; it is a page created by [the ruling party] 'Civil Contract.' It falsely claims that Samvel Karapetyan said we should support our ally Russia in the war against Ukraine at any cost. Dear citizens, Samvel Karapetyan never made such a statement. This is a fabrication by 'Civil Contract'—it is completely false," Karapetyan noted.
He added that Armenia has not yet resolved its own issues, including the issue of war and peace. "Samvel Karapetyan has never had and does not have any connection to any war. Under his leadership, Armenia will finally establish normal relations with the countries of the region, and our country will break free from the chain of three wars and genuflection. The "Civil Contract" wants to sow the fear of war among our compatriots, the very war they brought upon us. Everyone knows the truth; even the opposition leaders have declared that they will cast their votes for the leading opposition force that secures the most votes, which is, Samvel Karapetyan," Narek Karapetyan stated.
