ArmInfo. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin took part in the international "Garden of Memory" event held at Victory Park in Yerevan.
According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission noted in his opening remarks that "the trees planted as part of this initiative symbolize the Soviet people who lost their lives during the Great Patriotic War. It is crucial to preserve this memory and pass it down to the younger generation."
The event was joined by representatives from the Yerevan City Hall, the Belarusian Embassy, as well as veterans and youth activists.
The international "Garden of Memory" campaign has been held since 2020 at the initiative of the "Garden of Memory" NGO, the all-Russian public movement "Victory Volunteers," and the Victory Commanders Memorial Foundation. Every year, in the lead-up to Victory Day, 27 million trees are planted across Russia and abroad in memory of every person who died during the Great Patriotic War.
