ArmInfo.Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan's remarks about Belarus can be interpreted as inhuman envy of the Belarusian people's successes, as stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova at a briefing.
She noted that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry has already said everything on the matter. " "I can only say that everything Alen Simonyan said can be interpreted in only one way: a kind of, you know, inhumane envy toward the successes of a people and a country that have done nothing wrong to them. Go there yourself, take a look. I repeat: I went and saw for myself, and formed my own opinion," she said, recommending once again that critics visit Belarus to witness its achievements. Zakharova asserted that regarding the progress Belarus has made in the economic, industrial, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors, Alen Simonyan is "not just a stone's throw away he is further than the moon."
In this vein, she once again called on bloggers and Armenian media to visit Belarus and then bring back materials to show Alena Simonyan the achievements of Belarusians, the Belarusian people, and the Belarusian leadership. Furthermore, she advised looking at how Belarus carefully handles environmental issues, honors its traditions, preserves historical memory, and passes down knowledge of its culture and identity to the younger generation. "I have never once heard the Belarusian leadership say that we should stop speaking about the genocidal actions of the Nazis and fascists against the Belarusians. On the contrary, they speak about it, write books and textbooks not to avoid communication with Western Europe or Germany, but to ensure that the same atrocities committed over 80 years ago are never repeated," she noted. Through these comments, she appeared to take a pointed jab at the Armenian authorities' recent attempts to revise the historical narrative of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire for the sake of improving relations with Turkey. According to Zakharova, Simonyan is simply envious of the results Belarus has achieved. In her words, "It was said purely out of envy."
"Secondly, I recall that the Armenian delegation that accompanied Alen Simonyan recorded our conversation. Perhaps they will share what Alen Simonyan said, including inside the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation they could even use Aesopian language. We will read between the lines, and the Armenian public will find out as well," the diplomat concluded.
It's worth noting that Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan lashed out at Russia on Armenian Public Television. He stated that Russia is currently attempting a political operation to change the Armenian government. He stated, "While in Ukraine they are trying to advance and resolve their interests through armed force, in Armenia they are attempting a political operation, an attempt to seize power." Simonyan added that "the Armenian people will not allow Armenia to be turned into a province" and "Armenia will not be governed like Belarus."
