ArmInfo. What will happen at the end of the election campaign? This question was posed by expert and member of the Alternative Projects group, Vahe Hovhannisyan.
According to him, a correct understanding of the situation on the first day of the campaign and the correct conclusions will determine the outcome on June 7. The development of events is determined not by the high approval ratings of the opposition, but by the low approval ratings of the authorities. This significantly changes the situation, since the tools used to combat the opposition will not solve the main problem, but will instead lead to new scenarios. The most genuine consolidation has occurred in the opposition camp, because it is no longer a question of individuals or positions, but of principles, and society has recognized this. "The people, all segments of society, are universally demanding change, and in this situation, the authorities are hindering policy discussions. This is the first such case in the history of Armenia. There is only one explanation: the authorities, in general, have nothing to say, nothing to offer their people in terms of a program. And they will do everything to hinder the programmatic work of others. We must not fall into this trap. Expect a 'Moldovan' scenario, beware of a 'Romanian' one. It is possible that the authorities will obstruct the participation of one or another force through the courts and/or attempt to annul them after an electoral defeat. It is important to remember that the new National Assembly does not begin its work immediately. Therefore, we must be prepared for such events," Vahe Hovhannisyan noted.
He emphasized that there is a good chance of forming a new, strong government, since the current authorities do not enjoy the clear and open support of any social group. "The authorities are losing across all social strata, losing in Yerevan, other cities, and even villages. Pashinyan has created new artificial social classes. He is the leader of the elite and the social strata vulnerable to infoterrorism. It's crucial to understand this in order to choose the right targets. We need to communicate effectively with the state system and patiently combat this very infoterrorism. And one of the most important principles is: be honest with each other, within the opposition, and with society," the political scientist concluded.
As a reminder, Armenia will hold its next parliamentary elections on June 7, with 19 political forces - 17 parties and two blocs - participating.
