ArmInfo. The election campaign of Robert Kocharyan, the second President of the Republic of Armenia and the "Armenia" bloc's candidate for Prime Minister, kicked off with a rally at Eternal Flame Square in Echmiadzin.
During the rally, Kocharyan characterized the upcoming vote not merely as a political shift, but as a critical crossroad for the nation's cultural and spiritual survival. He argued that this election cycle is unprecedented in Armenian history because it centers on the protection of the Armenian Apostolic Church and traditional national identity.
"There has never been anything like this in our history," Kocharyan stated. "I do not remember a time when elections were a choice between war and peace. The current authorities brought this phenomenon upon us by dividing our people and distorting our history. They must be held accountable."
Kocharyan noted that the Armenian authorities, not content with the loss of Artsakh, are attempting to lead the Armenian people into a new adventure. In this regard, he recalled the European Political Community (EPC) summit held earlier in Armenia, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was invited and provocative statements were made.
"There are two reasons why all of this is being done. Firstly, the Armenian authorities have nothing to say, since they failed to fulfill their promises, and are now using the threat of war to secure their reelection. Secondly, these actions are intended to divert European attention from the current situation in Armenia," Kocharyan noted. He emphasized that all of this means only one thing: Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's personal interests have nothing to do with the interests of the Republic of Armenia. "We will say no to all this and propose our own security model. That means having a combat-ready army, a strong leader, and a powerful ally," Kocharyan emphasized.
