ArmInfo. The "Immortal Regiment" march, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, has once again taken place in the streets of Yerevan. The event symbolizes the bond between generations and the eternal memory of the heroism shown by our ancestors.
Following established tradition, the procession began at the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) Church in the Arabkir district and headed toward Victory Park, where the "Eternal Flame" burns near the Mother Armenia monument.
During the event, volunteers formed a "living number 81" to mark the anniversary of the Great Victory. A 100-meter-long St. George's Ribbon was unfurled alongside Armenian and Russian flags, with an orchestra accompanying the procession. Upon reaching Victory Park, the Victory Banner was displayed. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin, who participated in the march, noted that today is a sacred day for the peoples of the Soviet Union. "This is a day to honor the Great Victory, for which our nations made unimaginable sacrifices. We must remember this," he stated, emphasizing the importance of the high youth turnout in ensuring the continuity of this memory.
The march was organized by the historical-cultural NGO "Immortal Regiment Abroad." A large number of participants attended, carrying portraits of their ancestors.
It should be noted that before the 44-day war in 2020, May 9 was celebrated in Armenia as a triple holiday: Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the liberation of Shushi, and and the Day of the Formation of the Artsakh Defense Army.
