ArmInfo. In the current situation, there is no talk of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
This was stated by Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, during the election campaign in the Kakhsi community of the Kotayk region of the republic.
He asked what kind of peace the authorities are talking about today. "There is no document signed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Moreover, yesterday he said that immediately after the elections, Armenia would have to adopt a new Constitution and return 300,000 Azerbaijanis. There is no place for our Artsakh residents, who have become internally displaced, to live in Armenia. These are the people who closed their doors and fled, leaving all their property behind, but there is no word about their return, yet they are ready to accept 300,000 Azerbaijanis. What does this mean? How should this be understood? We need guaranteed peace, and this means that we, together with Aliyev, with mandatory guarantees, be it from India, China, or Russia, will sign a peace treaty. No war. We will define the borders, and anyone who violates them will be held accountable. In this situation, we will close the doors of war and begin to focus on development and improving the well-being of our citizens," Tsarukyan said.
He again called on the authorities to present a final document proving that they have brought peace to this land and that the war has ended. Meanwhile, the politician and businessman continued, against this backdrop, Aliyev is constantly issuing new claims and threats against Armenia. "In this situation, there can be no talk of peace," Tsarukyan concluded.
As a reminder, Armenia will hold its next parliamentary elections on June 7. Nineteen political forces-17 parties and two blocs-are participating.
