ArmInfo.Armenia's Public Television (PTA) has refused to broadcast the "Armenia" bloc's campaign ad for Robert Kocharyan, the second president of the Republic and prime ministerial candidate. Agnessa Khamoyan, an opposition MP from the "Armenia" bloc, announced this in a video posted on her Facebook page.
She clarified that the video was generated by artificial intelligence and was labeled as such. According to Khamoyan, the ad discussed the future that awaits Armenia if the current government is re-elected. "Both the Public Television of Armenia and private television channels were simply banned from airing our video. In the "bastion of democracy", the Television and Radio Commission of Armenia censors the videos of opposition force," she emphasized.
Khamoyan pointed out that, according to the PTA, the video contains elements that could negatively impact the health, intellectual and physical development, and upbringing of minors. Furthermore, she noted it was alleged that historical events, cultural heritage, and other aspects were distorted. "Neither the PTA nor the Television and Radio Commission of Armenia has the right to censor a political force. No historical events were distorted in the video. It spoke about the future we might face under the current government. The PTA, which is concerned about the health, intellectual and physical development, and upbringing of minors, should be primarily concerned about the ruling party's campaign ads, which contain slander and threats," the "Armenia" bloc MP stated.
In this regard, Khamoyan questioned whether the rhetoric of the country's leader poses a threat. "It is precisely the presence of such a leader in our country that poses a threat to the health of minors and not just to their health," she stated.
Summing up, Khamoyan stated that they intend to file a complaint regarding this illegal decision and continue their campaign to warn Armenian citizens of the future that awaits them if the current government is re-elected.
