ArmInfo. The number of people in both Armenia and Russia who want to provoke a crisis in Armenian-Russian relations is significant. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a briefing on May 22.
He reiterated his previous statement that Armenia will not enter into conflict with Russia. "We will not take steps against Russia, much less fight it, because this is not serious. Russia is a great power that should be treated with respect, and we do. We also respect Moscow's interests," the head of the Armenian government noted, adding that Yerevan has never participated in anti-Russian operations. He assured that the country will not be drawn into these processes in the future.
Nevertheless, continuing on the topic, Pashinyan noted that Armenia is not on Russia's side on the Ukrainian issue. Responding to a question about inviting the Ukrainian president to Yerevan for the European Political Community summit, the prime minister noted that he sees no reason to restrict contacts with Ukraine or Zelenskyy's visit to Armenia.
"Why shouldn't the Ukrainian president come to Armenia? When Armenia was in conflict with Azerbaijan, didn't the Azerbaijani president travel to Russia, or didn't the Russian president travel to Azerbaijan? Was there ever a single instance where we asked: why is the Azerbaijani president traveling to Russia, or vice versa? Back in 2022, we stated that Armenia is not Russia's ally on issues related to Ukraine. Is Ukraine not a state? Ukraine is a member state of the UN and a European political state," he added.
