ArmInfo. Samvel Karapetyan, the Strong Armenia party's candidate for prime minister, questioned Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's morning statement about preventing the settlement of 300,000 Azerbaijanis in Armenia. He made this statement during a press conference on May 22.
Asking what guarantees the Armenian prime minister could provide to ensure such an outcome, he recalled Pashinyan's previous statements made in a square in Stepanakert (Nagorno-Karabakh).
"And we saw how that ended for Artsakh. He shouted in the square, and then very calmly abandoned Artsakh." In recent years, since 2020, the Armenian authorities-both in matters of Armenia itself and Artsakh-have had virtually no say. "They have a boss-whatever he says, they do. Essentially, they are merely an instrument for the de-Armenization of our country," Karapetyan stated.
Regarding the threat of war, the politician emphasized that those countries whose leaders, in his view, pursue the wrong policies and display weakness and inconsistency are subject to attacks.
"And this man has repeatedly proven himself a coward. He is only strong on the bus-he shows his strength nowhere else," the leader of "Strong Armenia" said.
It is worth noting that earlier today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he would guarantee the prevention of the resettlement of 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenia during his tenure. He also noted that such narratives are promoted by political forces advocating for the return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, the concept of "Western Azerbaijan" should not exist in Armenia. The Prime Minister also noted that the issue of the possible return of Azerbaijanis is linked to the issue of the return of Armenians to Baku, Sumgait, Kirovabad and Nakhichevan.
