ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is persistently dragging the country into the European Union, while trying to retain all the benefits of participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, as stated by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and Chairman of the United Russia party, according to RIA Novosti.
"As we know, those who try to sit on two chairs risk landing painfully right on their own slack behinds. This is precisely what a certain little man nicknamed Nikol apparently intends to do in the near future. He's persistently dragging his superpower into the European Union, while trying to preserve all the benefits of participation in the EAEU," Medvedev wrote on Max platform.
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council believes that the Armenian population will drive Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan out of office if Yerevan transitions to European gas prices. "It is obvious to everyone that if the country transitions to European gas prices, the population will chase this fellow out with a dirty broom straight to Paris, to his affectionate friend Macron," Medvedev wrote. He also referenced Pashinyan's remarks regarding Russia's "obligation" to maintain the current gas price for Armenia at $177.5 per thousand cubic meters. This is despite the fact that exchange prices for gas in Europe in May 2026 hovered around $570–$590 per thousand cubic meters for futures on the TTF hub in the Netherlands, the Security Council Deputy Chairman noted.
