ArmInfo. Mother Armenia party board member Aregnaz Manukyan called law enforcement's attempts to prosecute her in the absurd case against Andranik Tevanyan, number two on the Prosperous Armenia electoral list, "utter madness."
It should be noted that, according to information disseminated by Armenian media, law enforcement agencies accuse Manukyan of being an "informant" for Andranik Tevanyan. Specifically, according to investigators, "it was Manukyan who passed information from a closed session of the Armenian parliament in April 2024 to Tevanyan." In this regard, Manukyan wrote that law enforcement agencies are moving in the wrong direction. It should be noted that Areknaz Manukyan resigned from her parliamentary seat in September 2025.
"I want to inform law enforcement agencies that they are moving in the wrong direction, because I am not a spy or a traitor, but a terrorist. For years, I have been terrorizing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the executors of the Civil Contract, and a certain female dentist on a daily basis. The Manukyan family tree, discovered on yellowed paper during a search of the Mother Armenia party office, is also a terrorist plan. It depicts my ancestors who are laying claim to the posts of future prime ministers, ministers, and members of parliament, but not to that same female dentist. Seriously speaking, this insanity is already turning into complete madness. Bring medication to that mentally ill person or change the dosage; their effects are no longer effective," the party board member wrote on her Facebook page. In light of the incident, Manukyan addressed Armenian citizens, urging them to participate in the parliamentary elections on June 7. "Dear compatriots, I urge you to participate in the elections on June 7 to use your vote to oust the current authorities, who serve Turkish-Azerbaijani interests, and to form a new, national government. Freedom for political prisoner Andranik Tevanyan," the opposition leader concluded.
As a reminder, on May 21, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the opening of a criminal case against Andranik Tevanyan for "treason and espionage." Tevanyan is accused of transferring information containing state secrets to a foreign state for $622,000. On the night of May 24, Tevanyan was placed under two-month pretrial detention by court order. According to Tevanyan's lawyer, Aram Orbelyan, there were no legal grounds for his client's detention. It should be added that the opposition figure's detention occurred on the direct orders of current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Tevanyan himself called the investigation's allegations absurd, noting that he resigned his parliamentary mandate in 2023 and, therefore, the Investigative Committee's allegations are baseless.
