ArmInfo. The Armenian military deserves to have a dignified leadership that won't humiliate them to please the enemy. This was stated by Arman Tatoyan, the prime ministerial candidate from the Wings of Unity Party, in connection with the military parade held by the Armenian authorities to mark First Republic Day.
Tatoyan noted that, despite everything, he is proud of the Armenian military and the equipment the country has had and will continue to acquire. "I am proud of our military, their march, wherever and whenever it may be. We must admire the men and women who bravely guard our borders every day. I am proud of the military equipment our country has. And I am proud of the equipment our country has had and will acquire. Peace is only possible with strength," the politician emphasized in his Facebook post.
However, he urged a proper understanding of the true goals and context of the military parade held by the Armenian authorities today. Tatoyan expressed his conviction that the current Armenian leadership is attempting to conceal its failures over the years in power. "The current Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and his entourage humiliate our military, their families, and our veterans every day, thus attempting to hide six years of their failures from the Armenian people. Meanwhile, over these years, they have brought three major wars, three defeats, and the second Armenian genocide. Our military deserves dignified leadership-one that doesn't humiliate them to please enemies. Dear compatriots, June 7 (parliamentary elections in Armenia - ed.) is the day of our country's liberation. We must take it back. You should not be governed by people who disrespect your heroism and the sacrifices your family has made. Long live the Armenian Army!" Tatoyan concluded.
As a reminder, Armenia celebrates First Republic Day on May 28. On this day, a parade is held in Republic Square, where the country's authorities showcase their newly acquired weapons. The last large-scale military parade in Armenia took place on September 21, 2016, in Republic Square in Yerevan, following the 4-day April War of 2016.
