ArmInfo. We saved Meghri from being surrendered to Azerbaijan, as declared by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a campaign rally in the Tavush region.
According to him, Robert Kocharyan and his criminal group were planning to take this step. However, Karen Demirchyan and Vazgen Sargsyan, at the cost of their lives, delayed the surrender of the Meghri region. The events of October 27, 1999, occurred precisely within this context. The prime minister continued by noting that there is evidence regarding this matter, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
Pashinyan also accused opposition forces of continuously hype-mongering over the "corridor" issue, noting that the ultimate outcome was the TRIPP project, which will be implemented strictly within the framework of Armenia's territorial integrity, jurisdiction, and sovereignty. "They claimed we were destroying the army because they know full well what they had left behind when the country's armed forces were collapsed. On May 8, 2018, when I became prime minister, I didn't even have time to review the documents, and I was already being accused of surrendering land.
Why did they say that? Because everything had already been surrendered," the head of government noted, adding that the four-day war of 2016 didn't end with any agreement being signed, and, as a consequence, it continued into 2020.
