ArmInfo. As a result of extensive procedural actions conducted during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, including numerous searches and nearly two dozen interrogations, the identity of one of the individuals plotting the assassination of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been established.
In particular, as noted in the Investigative Committee's statement, factual evidence has been obtained indicating that M.M., who has been living abroad since 2024, was part of a group of at least four individuals who acquired funds for the illegal assassination of the Prime Minister. Specifically, they acquired clothing and masks to conceal their identity and gathered information about the location and routes of the prime minister's campaign, thereby preparing the assassination. Afterwards, wearing the aforementioned clothing and masks, they recorded and distributed a video message addressed to the prime minister containing threats. Furthermore, on May 16, 2026, certain individuals intercepted real-time video data and video messages transmitted via computer communications equipment stored on a website not intended for public use, thereby disrupting the election campaign leading up to the RA National Assembly elections scheduled for June 7, 2026.
With respect to M.M. A criminal case was opened under Article 43-155, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 8 of the Criminal Code (preparation of murder by a group of persons in connection with the exercise of state or political activity by that person) and Article 211, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 5 (other obstruction of a group's campaigning).
A detention order was issued.
