ArmInfo. The car of Armen Aleksanyan, an opposition blogger implicated in the "Sacred Struggle" case, was set on fire overnight in Armenia. Aleksanyan himself reported the incident on his Facebook page, sharing footage of the aftermath. Commenting on the situation, the blogger stated that the arson occurred after he exited his vehicle while en route to the village of Musaler.
"Within those 15 to 20 minutes, my car caught fire; the exact circumstances are still unknown. However, a canister of diesel fuel was found inside the vehicle. Apparently, someone wants to silence me and force me to stop being active in this manner. But I will continue my struggle," Aleksanyan declared.
The blogger also pointed out that this is not the first such incident, noting that unidentified individuals had previously slashed his car's tires and smashed its headlights. "Apparently, this was a June 1st gift for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan," Aleksanyan concluded. Notably, the incident occurred shortly after Aleksanyan reported on his page that the Jrvezh municipality was coercing people into participating in the Armenian parliamentary elections and voting specifically for the ruling Civil Contract party. Furthermore, according to the blogger, citizens are being forced to film their voting process on their phones as proof. Aleksanyan stated that he received a similar message on his own phone and added that this situation is being observed across all provinces of Armenia. In connection with this, he displayed a screenshot of the message and called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter.
Recall, the blogger was detained in June 2025 on charges of organizing mass unrest. The court subsequently placed him under house arrest, and on February 23, 2026, Aleksanyan's preventive measure was changed to administrative control.
