ArmInfo. His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received representatives from the "Center for Human Rights and Genocide Studies" non-governmental organization.
According to the press office of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), the meeting focused on the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Artsakh, the violation of their fundamental rights, and the ongoing encroachments on the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The interlocutors emphasized that these events constitute yet another genocidal act committed against the Armenian people, serving as a testament to the fact that impunity for crimes against humanity and the lack of adequate international condemnation pave the way for new tragedies.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians also detailed the initiatives undertaken by the AAC within Armenia and the Diaspora toward the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. His Holiness underscored the vital importance of these efforts in protecting the rights of nations and preventing future crimes against humanity.
Furthermore, the parties discussed opportunities for the professional engagement of clergy members in educational initiatives within the field of genocide studies.
