High voter turnout puts authorities under time pressure

ArmInfo. High voter turnout puts the authorities under time pressure.  Agnesa Khamoyan, a representative of the Armenia bloc, stated this during a press conference on June 7.

"We are confident that the collective opposition received more votes  than the Civil Contract party," she emphasized, noting that turnout  was 48.92% as of 5:00 PM.

The MP expressed confidence that the united opposition has every  opportunity to form a government and remove Nikol Pashinyan's  government from power.

She also spoke about numerous instances of pressure on citizens  during the vote. In this regard, Khamoyan urged voters not to argue  with anyone, not to succumb to pressure, and to make their choice in  the voting booth, as no one will be able to verify their will there.

If citizens are required to confirm their choice by presenting their  remaining ballots, the MP noted that they can take the missing  ballots from the common pile in the voting booth.

She emphasized that such high political activity among the population  indicates that the current government's chances of renewing its rule  are approaching zero.

For her part, Ishkhan Saghatelyan added that if Nikol Pashinyan's  removal from power depends on the "Armenia" bloc's cooperation with  other political forces, they are prepared to cooperate with the main  opposition parties.

He also spoke about numerous violations during the electoral process.  In particular, the parliamentarian pointed to what he considered to  be illegal actions by law enforcement agencies. Since early morning,  he said, administrative resources have been deployed for large-scale  repression against opposition groups, particularly senior staff  members of the "Armenia" bloc's campaign headquarters. People are  detained for several hours, interrogated, some are released, and  others are charged as witnesses.

"Their goal is to disrupt and restrict the work of our headquarters,"  Saghatelyan said. Artsvik Minasyan, in turn, spoke of numerous  obstacles created by the Police's passport departments, especially  for citizens who are not registered at a specific address. According  to him, they are not provided with the necessary information, receive  delayed responses, or are referred to the courts. The courts,  according to the MP, either refuse to accept applications or delay  their consideration.

The MP also lamented the disenfranchisement of citizens currently  undergoing inpatient treatment in medical facilities.

Armenia bloc member Artur Khachatryan also spoke during the press  conference. He addressed the authorities' accusations that citizens  are arriving in Armenia from Russia to participate in the vote.  Specifically, Khachatryan noted that from May 1 to June 4, 13,000  fewer citizens arrived in Armenia than during the same period in  2025.

"That is, their participation will not significantly change the  overall picture," the parliamentarian said.
