
ArmInfo.For the opposition to achieve an absolute victory in the parliamentary elections in Armenia, Commission members and their proxies must prevent fraud during the vote count. Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, stated this in a video posted on his Facebook page.
He also expressed confidence that victory is very close. "To achieve an absolute victory, we need all Commission members, as well as our proxies, to closely monitor the vote count and prevent fraud. Our victory is very close, rest assured," Karapetyan stated. Narek Karapetyan, the number one candidate for the Strong Armenia bloc, noted the historically high voter turnout. "The parliamentary elections in Armenia have concluded.
The historically high turnout indicates that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is losing," noted the member of the Strong Armenia party's political council. Regular parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7. 2,500 polling stations opened across the country at 8:00 AM local time. Most were equipped with surveillance cameras. Voting concluded at 8:00 PM local time, and polling stations across the country closed. As of 5:00 PM, voter turnout in the regular parliamentary elections was 48.92%. By that time, 1,224,957 citizens had voted in the elections out of a total of 2,505,102 eligible voters. Eighteen political forces - two blocs and 16 parties - participated in the elections. The favorites include current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party, businessman Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia bloc, second president Robert Kocharyan's Armenia bloc, and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia party. From early morning, observers and journalists reported numerous violations during the voting process.
