ArmInfo. The elections to the National Assembly of Armenia on June 7, 2026, were historic for Armenian statehood, our national identity, and the fate of the Armenian people worldwide.
From the very beginning, the electoral process was marked by unprecedented abuse of administrative resources by the authorities, as noted in a statement issued by the Wings of Unity party. "A systematic scheme was in place: high-ranking officials responsible for the campaign, including mayors, widely used coercion and intimidation against citizens. They forced them to avoid opposition gatherings by threatening the dismissal of their family members. There were numerous instances where citizens reported being demanded by the authorities to photograph their ballots to prove they voted for the ruling power. Citizens were routinely forced to attend government meetings under threats of dismissal, tax fines, and so on. We even published recordings proving these facts, where kindergarten directors were coerced, but received no response from law enforcement agencies," the political force said in a statement.
It emphasizes that the entire election campaign initiated by the authorities was accompanied by insults and hate speech, as a result of which citizens were unable to understand and evaluate the substantive programs. "These elections are also notable for the open interference of foreign powers: Baku, Ankara, Brussels, Washington, and Moscow. As a result, instead of uniting the Armenian people, these elections have further deepened divisions and spread intolerance among the people. The biggest problem under these circumstances is the ruling party's replication of anti-Armenian policies.
We are convinced that the ruling party did not actually receive the support it claims to have received from the official results. We are convinced that the citizens' votes in favor of the Wings of Unity party were falsified. Therefore, we categorically reject the announced election results and consider them illegal, as they do not reflect the true will of the citizens of Armenia. We are initiating a process to recount the voting results and are currently discussing contesting the election results entirely," the political force added.
"Through these elections, the voice of the Armenian citizen was stolen, along with their right to determine the future of their state. We do not intend to tolerate what has happened. We will not remain silent. We do not intend to abnegate our responsibility. Our struggle continues across all possible legal, political, and public platforms. To the very end. Justice will prevail," the party concluded.
