ArmInfo. Iveta Tonoyan, spokesperson for Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, has responded to today's statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
During a press briefing on June 11, the Prime Minister harshly responded when asked whether the authorities had offered Tsarukyan a political deal. "If we had offered him a deal, he would have come crawling on his knees. No one in Armenia offered him any deals, which is why he was wandering around the world like an orphan looking for agreements. He found something somewhere, and then it turned out he had simply been recruited, and he didn't even realize it himself," the Prime Minister said.
In this regard, Iveta Tonoyan regretfully noted that an unhealthy atmosphere has recently developed in the Republic of Armenia, where anyone can say or write whatever they want without a sense of responsibility. However, it is, at the very least, strange and unacceptable that the country's Prime Minister adheres to a similar approach.
"While the Prosperous Armenia party and other political forces are fully engaged in challenging the election results, recounting votes, and defending the voting rights of every citizen in an effort to restore justice, the Prime Minister is introducing incomprehensible labels and assertions into the public agenda. Ultimately, what is there even to deny? Reports of an alleged deal with the authorities were circulated by someone two days ago, and I already denied them, yet today this has become a topic of discussion at the Prime Minister's briefing.
Gagik Tsarukyan's international connections are extensive, and the whole world is aware of them. Yes, we maintain broad and open international cooperation, and we have never hidden this fact. Our partnership relations, official meetings, and mutual visits with the Russian 'United Russia' party have been publicly reported on numerous occasions. The party is also a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists family, implementing various programs and conducting exchange visits. We have very good relations with a number of political, social, and business circles in the Arab world, which everyone is aware of. We also have partnerships and cooperation programs with various influential circles in the United States, which we have likewise spoken about publicly," Tonoyan emphasized.
