ArmInfo. The Armenian Cinema Fund reported that the French company Kissani Films, citing an agreement signed in the 1990s, claimed exclusive rights to approximately 250 films that constitute part of the Armenian cinematic heritage.
Given the importance of the issue and the need for a comprehensive study of the legal circumstances, the Fund has decided to temporarily postpone the screening of the Armenian program scheduled for the Classics section of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
The Fund emphasized that Armenian cinematic heritage is a vital part of national memory and cultural identity, and its preservation, popularization, and international promotion remain one of the organization's priorities.
According to a message published on the Foundation's official Facebook page, a comprehensive investigation will be conducted in connection with the current situation, involving relevant specialists and competent authorities.
