Marta Kos to visit Armenia on July 5

ArmInfo.  On the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council format meeting, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Kos  congratulated Mirzoyan on his victory in the parliamentary elections,  noting that it signals a further deepening of the Armenia-EU  partnership.

Mirzoyan outlined the upcoming priorities of Armenia's foreign  policy, based on the mandate received from the citizens of Armenia  through democratic voting, including the Armenia-EU strategic agenda  and the vision for promoting European integration.

The interlocutors discussed specific mechanisms to support the  economic component of the Armenia-EU partnership and the upcoming  steps for their implementation. Mirzoyan and Commissioner Kos  exchanged views on the agenda for the Commissioner's visit to Yerevan  on July 5. The meeting also touched on regional developments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that Mirzoyan, at the  invitation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and  Security Policy, participated in the meeting of the EU Foreign  Affairs Council.

The discussion, which took place in the format of a working  breakfast, was attended by Kaja Kallas, Vice- President of the  European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs  and Security Policy; Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for Enlargement; as  well as the foreign ministers and representatives of EU member  states.

The EU partners congratulated Mirzoyan on Armenia's democratic  parliamentary elections and the victory of the "Civil Contract"  party. The support of the EU and its member states for the consistent  implementation of the strategic Armenia-EU partnership agenda was  emphasized, along with their political commitment to supporting  European integration.

Mirzoyan presented the developments in and around Armenia during the  pre-election and post-election periods. He stressed that by casting  their votes, the citizens of Armenia reaffirmed their will to live in  peace, protect the country's independence, sovereignty, and the  irreversibility of democratic reforms, and support both the chosen  path toward prosperity and Armenia's aspirations for European  prospects.

Mirzoyan noted that the fact that his first post-election visit is to  the EU in this specific format to discuss the further deepening of  the partnership between Armenia and EU demonstrates a mutual  commitment.

An exchange of views took place regarding the mechanisms and possible  steps to increase trade turnover between Armenia and the EU, as well  as to enhance Armenia's economic and energy resilience. The Armenian  Foreign Minister highly appreciated the support provided so far by  the EU and its member states in countering hybrid threats and  diversifying economic ties. An agreement was reached to continue  working in this direction through active cooperation with both EU  institutions and individual EU member states.
