ArmInfo. The Administrative Court has upheld the claim filed by the Prosecutor General's Office to invalidate the state title registration held by the "National Olympic Committee of Armenia" (a union of legal entities) for a state-owned land plot.
The property, measuring 225.1 hectares and valued at 36,413,526,000 drams, is located near the cable car system in the city of Tsaghkadzor, Kotayk Province, as noted in an official statement issued by the supervisory authority.
According to the statement, on December 29, 2005, the State Committee of the Real Estate Cadastre— operating under the Government of the Republic of Armenia—registered the National Olympic Committee's ownership of the 225.1-hectare state-owned parcel near the Tsaghkadzor ropeway. This registration was executed on the basis of Decree No. 253, issued by the Governor of Kotayk Province on December 23, 2005, alongside a corresponding agreement, and in accordance with Article 23 of the Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Land Code of the Republic of Armenia."
However, the court ruled that because the land plot was transferred to the National Olympic Committee after the designated amendments to the Land Code had already entered into force, the organization's claim to ownership under Article 23 of the aforementioned law cannot be deemed legally valid.
Once the judicial act becomes legally binding, the title to the land plot will be re-registered under the ownership of the Republic of Armenia.
It is worth noting that the post of president and the actual leadership of the organization since 2005 have been held by the Armenian businessman and philanthropist Gagik Tsarukyan.
