Pashinyan: It is Armenia`s legitimate right to deprive the opposition  formed after the 9th convocation parliamentary elections of future  political activity

ArmInfo. During the parliamentary elections, the Armenian authorities succeeded in ensuring the will and choice of the people, as stated by Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the NA plenary session on June 16.

According to the Prime Minister, the ruling political force in the  country has faced challenges on two occasions—first in 2021 and again  in 2026—when the rights of citizens to free and transparent  expression of will were upheld during parliamentary elections.  However, in 2026, the country encountered entirely new challenges,  and it is vital to develop mechanisms for an appropriate response to  them. 

The Prime Minister noted that that issue will become part of the  current government's future agenda. "It is already necessary to form  guarantees today so that political forces that distribute electoral  bribes have no chance of exerting any political influence in the  country. It is the legitimate right of the Republic of Armenia to  deprive the opposition, which was formed following the results of the  elections to the 9th convocation of the National Assembly, of the  opportunity for further political activity," the Prime Minister said,  adding that these forces entered the country's parliament illegally.

The Prime Minister pointed out that citizens had frequently raised  the question of when the problem of distributing electoral bribes  would finally be solved. His response to this question was clear and  direct: in the absence of peace, solving this problem was not  possible.
