Visit of Hero-Arkadag to the Islamic Republic of Iran

ArmInfo. On July 3, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, during which meetings were held with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian and the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

At Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport, Hero-Arkadag was warmly welcomed by the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref and other officials.

From the airport, the motorcade of the National Leader of the Turkmen people proceeded to the Servestan Palace of the Saadabad Complex, where talks were held between Hero-Arkadag and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished Turkmen guest, President Masoud Pezeshkian noted that Iran attaches great importance to expanding multifaceted cooperation with neighboring Turkmenistan. In this regard, the President of Iran expressed confidence that the current visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people would give fresh impetus to bilateral relations.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality extended to him, Hero-Arkadag noted with satisfaction the high level of interstate dialogue based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect. Taking the opportunity, the National Leader of the Turkmen people conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Conveying his best wishes in return to the Head of Turkmenistan, the President of Iran emphasized the multifaceted and dynamic nature of the long-standing bilateral partnership. The interlocutors expressed confidence that the current meeting would serve as a solid foundation for the consistent strengthening of Turkmen-Iranian partnership.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed their readiness to make joint efforts for the further development of friendly and fraternal relations between the two states across a wide range of areas in the interests of the Turkmen and Iranian peoples, and exchanged their best wishes.

During the visit, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag also met with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Warmly welcoming the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament emphasized the significance of the current visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan for the progressive development of bilateral cooperation.

Thanking the Iranian side for the hospitality extended to the delegation of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag noted the high level of interstate dialogue steadily developing both bilaterally and within the framework of authoritative international organizations.

Noting that interparliamentary cooperation is one of the priority areas of interstate relations, Hero-Arkadag and the Speaker of the Iranian legislative body emphasized the need to strengthen contacts between parliamentarians, intensify the work of interparliamentary friendship groups, and regularly exchange relevant experience.

The interlocutors also stressed the importance of continuing the practice of organizing joint thematic events aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen and Iranian peoples.

At the conclusion of the meeting, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to constructive cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect and equality, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag and the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf exchanged best wishes to each other as well as to the friendly peoples of the two countries.

As part of the visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, at the request of the Iranian side, answered questions from Seyyed Mohsen Hosseini, a journalist of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB).

Then, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag proceeded to the Mosalla Imam Khomeini Mosque, the venue of the mourning ceremony.

A farewell ceremony was held there for the late Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

At the mosque, Hero-Arkadag was welcomed by the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref and other officials.

Paying tribute to the late Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and members of his family, Hero-Arkadag offered prayers to the Almighty for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as personally and on behalf of the entire Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag expressed sincere condolences and words of support to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials on this sorrowful day.

Hero-Arkadag then made an entry in the special book of condolences.

Upon completion of the visit program to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the National Leader of the Turkmen people proceeded to Tehran Mehrabad International Airport. There, Hero-Arkadag was seen off by the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref and other officials.
