Artsakh Tourism and Culture Development Agency urges Marriott International to remove travel offers  to occupied Shushi and Stepanakert

ArmInfo. The Artsakh Tourism and Culture Development Agency has urged Marriott International to remove all travel offers to Shushi and Stepanakert from the Marriott Bonvoy Activities platform.

In an official statement, the NGO strongly condemns the commercialization of a human tragedy, describing such tourism initiatives as unacceptable. "Tourist trips to occupied Shushi and Stepanakert, organized through the Marriott Bonvoy Activities platform, are deeply concerning and justifiably outraged. In a situation where more than 150,000 Armenians of Artsakh have been forcibly displaced from their homeland, it is morally unacceptable to profit commercially from the consequences of this tragedy," the statement reads.

The agency stressed that these offerings go beyond typical tourism programs, setting a dangerous precedent by framing forced displacement and ethnic cleansing as routine destinations. According to the NGO, such initiatives normalize profound injustices and violate fundamental principles of human rights, historical memory, and corporate responsibility.

"International companies must recognize their responsibility. Business must not become a direct or indirect instrument for legitimizing the consequences of forced displacement and violations of international law.  We call on Marriott International to immediately remove all offers of tours to occupied Artsakh from its platform and prevent the use of its prestigious brand to commercialize the humanitarian consequences. The memory, dignity, and rights of the people of Artsakh cannot be turned into a tourist service," the agency stated.
