ArmInfo. The Armenian government will allocate 179 million drams to organize and hold the "Varchafest 2026" competition and festival. The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on July 30.
As RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan noted in her speech, the goal of the event is to decentralize the country's cultural life, identify and encourage the activities of youth musical groups, promote the development of live music, create new opportunities for creative collaboration and professional growth, and establish an annual traditional cultural event that will enrich Armenia's musical festival scene and diversity. The music competition and festival aims to create a competitive creative platform for young musicians, promote the development of original music, popularize live performance, and disseminate contemporary musical culture. It will also foster collaboration, exchange of experience, and the formation of new creative connections between music industry professionals, creative groups, producers, and cultural organizations.
To organize the festival, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports sent out a call for proposals to 5 organizations that have collaborated with the Ministry in recent years to carry out large-scale state and governmental cultural events. Of these, 2 organizations have submitted their responses. Based on the submitted proposals, a presentation was organized to evaluate the participants' professional skills, conceptual proposals, organizational approaches, and vision for implementing the event. Following the presentation, Gravity Production LLC was selected, as its proposal most closely aligned with the goals, content, and organizational requirements of the festival. This company will be responsible for organizing and conducting the event.
