Government promises to review applications from drivers with revoked  licenses within 15 days

ArmInfo. The Armenian government has agreed to meet with a group of drivers whose licenses have been revoked.

The drivers gathered outside the government building demanding that  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan fulfill his pre-election promise to  reinstate their driver's licenses. Following this, at the beginning  of July, the authorities decided that individuals who had lost their  licenses after January 1, 2020, could have them reinstated once  without retaking exams, provided they pay a state fee of 50,000 drams  and complete a probationary period.

However, after paying this fee, many drivers were  rejected—specifically those whose licenses were revoked in Artsakh,  Russia, and prior to 2018. Although their funds were refunded a week  later, the issue of license reinstatement remained unresolved.

A group of drivers was received by Hamlet Nazaryan, Head of the  Department for Citizen Feedback Discussion, Monitoring, and  Evaluation of the Prime Minister's Staff of Armenia. Nazaryan asked  them to submit formal applications, promising that they would be  reviewed within 15 days, after which decisions would be presented.

"While they acknowledged the possibility of a mistake in the case of  the Artsakh drivers and are willing to review the law, they  recommended resolving the issue legally with the help of lawyers for  drivers whose licenses were revoked before 2018," the protest  participants said.  Drivers who lost their licenses in Russia also  expressed their outrage. They consider it unacceptable that Russia  has the authority to decide the fate of Armenian citizens with  Armenian licenses. They also ask the Prime Minister to fulfill his  promise and restore their driver's licenses, as this work is a source  of income for their families.
