Nearly 11,000 first-year students to begin their studies at Armenian  universities in September 2026

ArmInfo.  Beginning in September 2026, 10,958 first-year students will begin their studies in undergraduate, continuing, and integrated education programs at  public and private universities in Armenia. This was reported by the  press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and  Sports, citing data from the Assessment and Testing Center (ATC).

This represents 69.1% of the 15,859 applicants who applied for  admission and 49.35% of the total number of general education school  graduates in 2026 (22,205). Thus, 86.15% of the available places for  the 2026/2027 academic year will be filled. According to the source,  the government has allocated 12,720 places for the 2026/2027 academic  year, of which 2,133 are fully funded and 10,587 are fee-paying. Of  the 2,133 state-funded places, 1,282 (60.1%) are for STEM majors.

As the department noted, from 2021 to 2025, the number of students  enrolled in full-time undergraduate, continuing, and integrated  education programs increased from 9,700 to 10,970. In 2026, this  figure remained stable, exceeding the 2021 level by approximately  13%.

Ninety-seven percent of applicants chose public universities, while  3% chose private ones. According to preliminary data, Yerevan State  University, the State University of Economics of Armenia, and the  National Polytechnic University of Armenia accepted the largest  number of applicants. These and seven other leading universities  account for approximately 84% of all admitted students, which is the  same as last year.

The ranking of the most in-demand specialties remained virtually  unchanged. In terms of competition per place, the "Dentistry"  specialty at Yerevan State Medical University leads the field, with  three applicants per place. It is followed by "Economics" at Yerevan  State University (2.7 applicants per place) and "Law" at the  Russian-Armenian University (2.5 applicants per place).

Service, Political Science, Translation Studies (English and  Armenian), Information Systems, Biology- Chemistry, Pharmacy, and  Computer Engineering were also in high demand.
