ANC: Armenian government`s proposed framework for TRIPP  carries  geopolitical risks

ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities repeatedly demonstrate foolishness in a matter that is  crucial for the country. Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, who serves  as the chief aide to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei for  Armed Forces Affairs, has made a very important statement regarding  this issue. Essentially, he accused the Armenian side of falsifying  Iran's stance on TRIPP. Levon Zurabyan, Deputy Chairman of the  Armenian National Congress, wrote this on his Facebook page.

 "Refuting statements by Sargis Khandanyan, the future chairman of  the National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee and a member of  Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party, the Iranian general stated:   'We have no preliminary agreements with Armenia on TRIPP. We have no  real understanding or common ground on this issue. We have openly and  clearly outlined our red lines to Armenia.Therefore, the Armenian  parliamentarian's statement is not true. If we are against the US  presence in the Persian Gulf, then why should we support their  presence in the South Caucasus? We view the region and the security  of our borders as a single whole. Therefore, this project in its  current form poses a threat to Iran. We continue negotiations with  Armenia. However, if responsibility for security there is shifted to  the American military, Iran reserves the right to retaliate and is  capable of taking appropriate measures," Levon Zurabyan recalled.

In this regard, he noted that the ANC has long warned that the  implementation of the project under its present design it is in fact  a geopolitical bomb planted under Armenia, and proposed the  implementation of an alternative TRIP+BRICS project as a real  guarantee of Armenia's security.

"This is especially important given the current situation, which many  serious experts assess as a strategic defeat for the United States in  the war against Iran. The most terrible thing here is that the  Armenian authorities are once again lying to their own people, trying  to conceal their adventurism, carried out solely for the purpose of  maintaining power, which could lead to new fatal catastrophes for  Armenia and the Armenian people. This was the case before the 2020  war, this was the case in 2023, before the Armenians were expelled  from Artsakh, and this continues today. However, these issues are no  longer of interest to government officials distributing positions in  the National Assembly, as was the case in the past," the ANC Deputy  Chairman emphasized.
