Armenia actively working on visa liberalization process, says Acting  Deputy Interior Minister

ArmInfo. The EU assessment mission has provided Armenia with 53 recommendations on legislation and policy development as part of the visa liberalization  process, as stated by Armen Ghazaryan, Acting Deputy Interior Minister of Armenia, during a press conference on August 14.

He clarified that to implement these recommendations, the ministry  has developed a comprehensive action plan consisting of 117 steps,  half of these measures have already been completed. "We hope by the  first half of next year, we will be able to summarize the initial  phase and achieve positive results," Ghazaryan said. Overall, the  action plan for the liberalization process itself, according to him,  consists of four blocks:  document security and biometric passports;  migration and border management, asylum; public safety; and the  fourth block, human rights and freedoms. Each block requires reform  across two distinct areas:  legislative and policy development, and  practical implementation.

While Ghazaryan refrained from providing a firm timeline for the  completion of the entire process, he emphasized that intensive  collaborative work is ongoing both within Armenian government  agencies and with EU counterparts.

"Two EU assessment missions will visit before the end of the year,  and we hope that these visits will allow us to finalize the  assessment of our progress regarding legislative and policy  alignment," Ghazaryan said.
