ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation into a bribery case involving the head of the Armenian History Department at Yerevan State University (YSU). The official allegedly demanded a $4,000 bribe from a relative to secure an unhindered university admission.
According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, the department head leveraged his official position on September 3, 2023. Using his influence over the admissions committee, he initially demanded $5,000 from a relative to guarantee the applicant's acceptance into YSU, later reducing the amount to $4,000 following negotiations.
The official has been formally charged with large-scale bribery. A court placed him under house arrest as a preventive measure while the investigation concluded.
The case file and indictment have now been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia for trial. According to Armenian media reports, the accused is the brother of Artsvik Minasyan, a former member of the National Assembly of Armenia.
