
ArmInfo. President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the Indian Ambassador to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, who is concluding her diplomatic mission in the country.
According to the press service of the President of Armenia, Khachaturyan thanked the Indian Ambassador for her work and efforts aimed at developing Armenian-Indian relations.
"We are actively cooperating in various fields, including political, cultural, and economic. Cooperation is also underway at the intergovernmental and interparliamentary levels. I am very confident and hopeful that in the near future we will take our relations to a new level," the President of Armenia noted.
In turn, the Indian Ambassador emphasized the significance of the warm and friendly ties and cooperation forged during her diplomatic mission in Armenia.
Particular attention was paid to the close and effective cooperation between Armenia and India in the defense sector, noting that it is developing dynamically and is one of the key areas of bilateral partnership.
The parties also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the economic, cultural, educational, and high-tech sectors, emphasizing the need to fully utilize existing potential and implement joint programs.
Views were exchanged on the possibility of establishing direct air links between Armenia and India. It was noted that direct flights will contribute to increasing tourism flow between the two countries, deepening contacts and mutual recognition between peoples, and intensifying economic and business ties.
During the conversation, the topic of the upcoming COP-17 conference in Armenia was also touched upon. The President emphasized the importance of the conference in terms of addressing global climate and environmental issues through the joint efforts of the international community. The willingness of the high- level Indian delegation to participate in the conference was highly appreciated, emphasizing that India's participation is important for strengthening cooperation on these key issues on the global agenda.
