ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan believes that the practical implementation "on the ground" of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project will begin in early 2027.
Assuring that significant results have already been achieved in implementing a project of this scale, he said that a study is currently underway, the results of which will most likely be summarized in the next one to two months.
"After that, in early 2027, I believe we will be able to see real steps. We have already gone through all the stages; there have been numerous delegations, both from our side and interagency meetings from Washington, and now the project has matured and has reached the stage of practical implementation. And we believe that the groundbreaking ceremony can take place early next year," - Mkrtchyan said in a conversation with journalists in Yerevan.
It should be noted that initially, Armenian authorities stated that work "on the ground" to implement TRIPP would begin in the second half of 2026. However, the Armenian side later began to push back the deadline, citing the situation surrounding Iran.
It should be recalled that on August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a seven-point joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It provides for a joint appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave, surrounded by Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. On January 14, 2026, the Armenian Foreign Ministry published a framework document signed with the American side in Washington for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). The 12-page document presents the main goals of the project and the mechanisms for its operation. Among other things, the document emphasizes that Armenia intends to sanction and support the creation of the TRIPP Development Company. The company is expected to be responsible for the development of the TRIPP project, having received an initial development right for a period of 49 years. Armenia intends to offer the United States 74% of the shares of TRIPP Development Company, retaining 26%. It is expected that this partnership will be extended for another 50 years, with an additional ownership stake granted to the Armenian government, bringing its share to 49%.
