ArmInfo. The content of the "Foreign Policy" page has disappeared from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Political scientist Eduard Abrahamyan reported this on his Facebook page.
According to him, the page itself exists, but the content is gone. He explained that while working on his latest book, "Small States, Russia, and the West" (Routledge, 2025), and other scholarly studies, he repeatedly referenced the page and directly quoted official statements published there. "Now this content is gone. It was not carefully archived, as would be done in established states that respect institutional memory, but simply deleted, effectively destroying an official written document summarizing the foreign policy of the modern political history of the Republic of Armenia." "Essentially, part of the political and institutional memory has been erased," the political scientist noted.
According to him, such materials published on official websites are a "documented trace" of state policy. Abramyan explained that they are important not only for journalists, diplomats, officials, or ordinary citizens, but also for scholars—as a reliable and verifiable primary source. "When a state changes its policy, this does not mean that the documentary trace of the political narrative or direction it previously professed and adopted should disappear. State institutional memory is not a commodity that can be rewritten or simply deleted on a political whim. This is certainly a very eloquent indicator of the lack of political culture and disregard for institutional memory," the political scientist emphasized.
He then cited the contents of the deleted page, which he had archived. Thus, according to him, a peaceful and just settlement of the Karabakh issue based on the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination was mentioned as one of the main objectives of foreign policy. "It was noted that the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be based on the following principles: the basis for the settlement of the conflict should be the recognition of the realization of the right of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to self-determination; the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic should have uninterrupted land communication with Armenia, under the jurisdiction of the Armenian side; the security of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic must be guaranteed at the international level. "An agreement between all parties to the Artsakh conflict must include solutions to all issues and mechanisms for implementing these solutions in a single package," Abrahamyan recalled.
Furthermore, as the political scientist cites, it was noted that Armenia seeks to strengthen and deepen its special strategic partnership and allied relations with Russia, based on the traditional ties between the two peoples. "Armenia also attaches great importance to developing and deepening its friendly partnership and strengthening cooperation with the United States. One of Armenia's foreign policy priorities is rapprochement with the European family, based on shared values and commitments made through cooperation with European structures and organizations. Armenia attaches great importance to maintaining normal relations with neighboring states. "Armenia advocates for the establishment of relations in the region based on open borders and partnership, and strives to achieve this while always remaining ready for a healthy and realistic dialogue," the expert said in the deleted section.
It should be noted that the Armenian Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the deletion of the page's content.
