ArmInfo. The court hearing in the case of Mother Armenia party leader Andranik Tevanyan and Aregnaz Manukyan, scheduled for October 9, has been postponed due to the failure of Aregnaz Manukyan, who is under house arrest, to appear in court.
This was stated in a statement by the party.
As it turned out, the agencies that were supposed to deliver Manukyan to court failed to do so, despite the judge's order. As a result, the hearing has been rescheduled for November 9.
It should be noted that the October 9 hearing was supposed to continue the examination of the prosecution's evidence.
As a reminder, on September 8, by decision of presiding judge John Hayrapetyan, Andranik Tevanyan's pretrial detention was extended for three months. On the same day, Aregnaz Manukyan was detained for one month, and from September 22, she was placed under house arrest for three months with restrictions on communication.
It should be noted that Tevanyan is accused of treason and espionage, while Manukyan is accused of disclosing state secrets. Tevanyan was arrested in May on charges of espionage and treason. On May 21, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported that citizen A.T. (Andranik Tevanyan), while a member of parliament, was allegedly recruited by foreign intelligence services in 2024 and engaged in intelligence activities. According to investigators, he illegally obtained detailed information from a closed parliamentary discussion held in April 2024, translated the materials into Russian, and passed on information containing state secrets. According to the Investigative Committee, he received $622,000 for this. Tevanyan himself denied the charges, calling them absurd and politically motivated.
In connection with this case, Aregnaz Manukyan was arrested for two months on July 9 following a search of her home. The opposition politician and Tevanyan associate is accused of disclosing information constituting a state secret. She was later transferred to house arrest.
