ArmInfo. At the regular meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders on October 13, the authorities of the Yerevan city administration plan to approve a new system of calculating salaries for city hall officials, in which the mayor's salary will increase by more than 50% from 1,320,000 drams to 2,080,000 drams, an increase of 760,000 drams. This was reported by a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia" Mesrop Manukyan.
According to him, the salary of the first deputy mayor will increase by more than 91% from 1,020,000 drams to 1,913,600 drams (increase: 893,600 drams), and the deputy mayor's salary will increase by more than 92%. From 952,000 drams to 1,830,400 drams (an increase of 878,400 drams).
He added that the head of an administrative district will receive up to 1,248,000 drams (an increase of 398,000 drams) instead of the previous 850,000 drams, and the mayor's advisor will receive 915,200 drams (an increase of 286,200 drams) instead of the previous 629,000 drams.
"And, for example, the salary of a cleaner in the administrative district will increase by only 47,840 drams. This bill does not mention raising the salaries of Yerevan Bus drivers." There's no mention of increasing the salaries of the employees of the Yerevan Garbage Collection and Sanitation Service, who clean the streets of Yerevan every day. In the Civil Contract's view, is Yerevan just a municipality or also the people whose daily work makes the city vibrant? Yerevan's budget isn't the personal budget of the municipal leadership; it's the money of Yerevan residents. Before revising your own salaries, perhaps you should remember those who serve Yerevan every day with their real labor," the MP said indignantly.
