ArmInfo. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan once again addressed the issue of traffic congestion due to accidents in the city. During a working meeting on October 12, he reiterated that in the event of an accident without serious consequences, those involved must vacate the roadway within 15 minutes or face a fine.
People are required to get out, take photos, and then continue driving. Insurance companies must step out of their comfort zone. A single accident cannot completely halt traffic on a particular avenue. Insurance companies must find ways to record the extent of the damage, he said.
Avinyan noted that the mayor's office should also employ all possible mechanisms, including using CCTV cameras, sending employees to the scene, etc. "Within two months, we need to find optimal methods for handling violations. We need to send people to the scene of accidents, count down 15 minutes, and start issuing fines. This is a clear message to insurance companies and everyone with a vested interest in this situation. We need to step out of our comfort zone and think about innovative methods," he reiterated.
