ArmInfo. According to the results of the elections to several local government bodies, the ruling Civil Contract party and pro-government forces have won a convincing victory. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in his video address.
According to him, the current situation should be assessed politically, since the electoral processes have created a difficult situation. "During the parliamentary elections and before them, I repeatedly stated, and this was my instruction, that the war party, represented by the 'robo-Sergio-Kaluga and Ktric forces,' must be destroyed. As a result of the local government elections, we see that this has indeed happened, thanks to the assistance of the country's citizens. Nevertheless, as a person who assumed the office of prime minister as a result of the velvet revolution, I am completely dissatisfied with the fact that we, the Civil Contract party, "They received more than 90, 80, 70 percent of the vote in a number of localities," Nikol Pashinyan stated.
In his opinion, no matter how pleasant this may seem at first glance, these percentages evoke certain associations, but they also raise the question of the state of the opposition. "We must correctly assess this situation. The spy network in the country, controlled from outside, must be eradicated. But, on the other hand, an opposition with a state orientation must form in the country. The issue was discussed in various formats - what the government should do to form a new opposition. And the conclusion is that nothing should be done, there should be no political or active involvement in this issue, otherwise you could end up in an even worse situation. Remember, Armenia had a controlled opposition, which is a disaster for the country. "I believe we need a real opposition focused on real political activity, not espionage," the head of government noted.
He added that the country's authorities cannot and should not create an opposition, because doing so will make it manipulated and, in essence, false.
As a reminder, elections to the councils of elders in 21 communities were held in Armenia yesterday. According to RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, the ruling party Leading in municipal elections in Artik, Meghri, Yeghegnadzor, Vayk, Jermuk, Tsaghkadzor, Martuni, Artashat, Akhuryan, Ijevan, Vardenis, Dilijan, Araks, Armavir, and Garni.
