ArmInfo. Discussions on the candidacy of a member of the RA Audit Chamber have begun in the National Assembly of Armenia.
In accordance with Article 145 of the constitutional law "Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly," the NA Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Affairs proposed Karen Arustamyan, nominated by the ruling Civil Contract faction, for this position.
In his speech, the candidate noted that he has been a member of the Audit Chamber since 2020, serving a six-year term. During this period, dozens of studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of budget performance. The candidate emphasized that, as a member of the Chamber, he coordinated methodological and external relations work, and also conducted research on information containing state secrets. In this regard, Arustamyan emphasized the importance of ensuring that the country's parliament receives reliable and factual information.
Among the priorities for his future work, the candidate identified the need to address four interrelated issues. Specifically, these include the areas and methods of conducting research, the expected results of this research, how changes will be monitored, and who will benefit from this work. Research must be conducted taking into account the risks associated with managing public funds, their potential impact on citizens' lives, and the potential for achieving positive results. All these issues will be the candidate's focus.
