EEU: The EEU Treaty allows the authorized veterinary bodies of the member-states to unilaterally apply temporary bans and restrictions on the products

 At the moment, the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union allows authorized veterinary authorities of the Member States to unilaterally impose temporary bans and restrictions on production, which does not meet the requirements of the EEU. As the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) informs, it was stated by the

Director of the Department of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures EEC Oleg Arnautov.
According to the report, if Rosselkhoznadzor takes such a decision, it does not mean that it should be extended to the rest of the EEU countries. The authority initiating the ban, in this case, is Rosselkhoznadzor, has only to inform the competent authorities of the rest of the EEU. "At the same time, the competent authorities of the Parties are obliged to take measures to prevent penetration of the production that is banned in one EEU country into this country through their territory. At the same time, within the Eurasian Economic Commission there is an understanding that the prohibitions imposed by one of the countries automatically affect the other Member States. In this connection, EEC sees the need for an international agreement that would allow the Commission and the Parties to establish rules to regulate and introduce similar prohibitions and restrictions, taking into account the interests of all countries of the EEU, "- said the EEC statement.

Recall that a week ago Russian Rosselkhoznadzor have detected 200 kg of sturgeon in the Sochi airport, which was imported from Armenia by "Ararat trout" company. The suspended fish was burnt. According to media reports of the deputy chief of the border veterinary control at the state border of the Russian Federation and the transport of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Krasnodar Kray of the Republic of Adygea Victoria Kokosyan, the cause for suspension of sturgeon was that Armenian companies did not have a document of certification for the importation of goods into the territory of Russia and were lacking in Rosselkhoznadzor listed companies. "The representative of the sturgeon supplier filed a request himself to destroy the products. Burning in-situ as a way to destroy it was chosen because the only recycling facility is far from Sochi, and to carry the sturgeon there was inappropriate," - said Kokosyan. 

Meanwhile, according to the Director of "Ararat trout" Aram Manukyan, they had all the necessary documentation for the imported products. "The Russian side creates artificial barriers for us, the meaning of which we do not understand", - said Manukyan. 
Note that after Armenia's joining the Eurasian Economic Union, supply of products to Russia, which is subject to veterinary inspection, can be carried out only by those companies that are included in the list of the Rosselkhoznadzor. Companies may be included in this list once they submit an application to the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
